Plus, they have said before that they are working on the game when they weren't, so confidence in their "word" is pretty low. I'd like to believe you, but it's clear that absolutely nothing was done in the last "update" to avoid hackers coming in, if anything it appears they opened the floodgates to let them all in. Now that they're back they have to catch up all that time, considering there's teams of hackers actively finding ways to cheat (because that's how they decided to be productive in their lives -' ). Hackers have been developing tools for 2 years while the devs weren't coding anything for the game. Of course it's going to be hard for the devs to counteract hacking. I can't tell you which ones precisely, I'm no expert, but some ways of injecting new hack codes should have been disabled by the update. The game grew to millions of players, and we made the decision to expand the universe into what became UberStrike. Our aim was to champion an accessible FPS with classic gameplay, and it worked.

UberStrike started life in 2008 originally as a browser-based shooter called Paradise Paintball. The devs explicitely said in one of the previous threads they were working on a new anti-cheat system.
